We show that is isogenous to such that . In case has complex multiplication and , we obtain certain criteria whether or not is isogenous to such that .

     

Weight distributions of geometric Goppa codes

The in general hard problem of computing weight distributions of linear codes is considered for the special class of algebraic-geometric codes, defined by Goppa in the early eighties. Known results restrict to codes from elliptic curves. We obtain results for curves of higher genus by expressing the weight distributions in terms of -series. The results include general properties of weight distributions, a method to describe and compute weight distributions, and worked out examples for curves of genus two and three.

     

On the Diameter of Plane Curves

Recently, differential geometric properties of embedded projective varieties have gained increasing interest. In this note, we consider plane algebraic curves equipped with the Fubini--Study metric from₂ () and give an estimate for the diameter in terms of the degree, initiated in a paper by F. A. Bogomolov.     

MSE's of prediction in growth curve model with covariance structures

We consider the growth curve model with covariance structures: positive-definite, uniform covariance structure and serial covariance structure. Two types of prediction problems are studied in this paper. One is called the conditional prediction problem and the other is called the extended prediction problem. For both types of prediction problems, the mean squared error for a serial covariance structure is obtained for the estimates based on the conditional expectation: the mean squared error for an unrestricted covariance structure is compared with the mean squared error for a uniform covariance structure or a serial covariance structure. Ermittlung von Fließkurven in verschiedenen Ausführungsformen des Stauchversuches

Several modifications of the upsetting test at room temperature are discussed under the aspect of suppressing friction and other possible sources of error.In the upsetting test according to Rastegaev, friction is reduced, and the testpiece remains cylindrical up to high strains, however the specimen's height is determined with a large error. Therefore it is proposed to measure the increase of the specimen's diameter instead of the reduction of height.Upsetting under sticking friction conditions can formally be treated like upsetting with lubrication for calculating the stress-strain curve. However, the applicability and the limits of this method have not yet been studied sufficiently.In the plane-strain upsetting test, friction is not suppressed completely, but the error of height measurement propagates only weakly into the calculated stress-strain curve.

     

Improved DOSY NMR data processing by data enhancement and combination of multivariate curve resolution with non-linear least square fitting

The quality of DOSY NMR data can be improved by careful pre-processing techniques. Baseline drift, peak shift, and phase shift commonly exist in real-world DOSY NMR data. These phenomena seriously hinder the data analysis and should be removed as much as possible. In this paper, a series of preprocessing operations are proposed so that the subsequent multivariate curve resolution can yield optimal results. First, the baseline is corrected according to a method by Golotvin and Williams. Next, frequency and phase shift are removed by a new combination of reference deconvolution (FIDDLE), and a method presented by Witjes et al. that can correct several spectra simultaneously. The corrected data are analysed by the combination of multivariate curve resolution with non-linear least square regression (MCR-NLR). The MCR-NLR method turns out to be more robust and leads to better resolution of the pure components than classic MCR.

Monodromy Approach to the Scaling Limits in Isomonodromy Systems

The isomonodromy deformation method is applied to the scaling limits in the linear N×N matrix equations with rational coefficients to obtain the deformation equations for the algebraic curves that describe the local behavior of the reduced versions for the relevant isomonodromy deformation equations. The approach is illustrated by the study of the algebraic curve associated with the n-large asymptotics in the sequence of the biorthogonal polynomials with cubic potentials.     

Hilbert's Tenth Problem and Mazur's Conjecture for large subrings of

We give the first examples of infinite sets of primes such that Hilbert's Tenth Problem over has a negative answer. In fact, we can take to be a density 1 set of primes. We show also that for some such there is a punctured elliptic curve over such that the topological closure of in has infinitely many connected components.

     

Piecewise quadratic trigonometric polynomial curves

Analogous to the quadratic B-spline curve, a piecewise quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve is presented in this paper. The quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve has continuity, while the quadratic B-spline curve has continuity. The quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve is closer to the given control polygon than the quadratic B-spline curve.
